iPhone AppStore Now Live!

Apple has finally opened the AppStore for iPhone and iPod Touch applications.

Not to toot my own horn, but toot toot, I have an app available!  MPG

I've also launched a new site to support my iPhone apps.  iPhoneCodeMonkey.com.

Check it out!

I’ve put MPG on my iPhone (ver 2), and am keeping track of my motorcycle mileage. How do I put another version of MPG on the iPhone so I can do the same with my truck? Thanks

    Dave

      Hi Dave,

Keep an eye out for version 1.0.1 of FuelGauge. It supports multiple vehicles. That should work perfect for you.

I installed MPG on my Touch but the first reading states I got 2,375.14 MPG (boy do I wish!!)

How do I get it to show blank for the first entry? Will subsequent entries be correct?

          Hi Charles,

I suspect you entered the odometer reading and not the trip counter reading. And the release that is currently in your hands (1.0.0) doesn’t support odometer readings. But fear not! The next version (1.1.0) will. Apple still has one version under review (1.0.1) that just adds multi-vehicle support, so don’t be surprised if the first update that gets pushed to you doesn’t fix your problem.

Now the 1.1.0 version will look at that first entry as being a “baseline”, and your MPG will show up as “-” or something equally as clever. Then the 2nd entry will give you your true MPG.

1.1.0 is looking real good. Look for it soon! (Oh, and the update is free)

            Joe,
Yup I sure did enter the odometer.

            Thanks for the clarification!

I had to resync my phone with my computer, reinstalling all the apps. FuelGauge 1.1 was installed. When I tried to enter a vehicle, a prompt shows up and there is no way to enter anything into this, thereby making my vehicle name blank. I thought this was fixed a while back?

                Hi Josh,

I had to work around a bug in the iPhone 2.0 firmware to get the keyboard to show up when creating a vehicle. Apparently their fix broke my work-around. I will be submitting a patch to Apple tomorrow (09/14). Expect to see it pushed out to your iPhone shortly thereafter. Sorry for the weirdness.

                    Joe,

I still see the keyboard bug, but do not see your app on the store. Do you have an update?

                    Thanks.

What the status on the patch to Fuel Gauge? I have version 1.1 and am having the same problem Josh outlined in a previous post.

                        Hey guys,

I had released 1.1.1 and a few users reported some problems saving new entries. Rather than push that problem out to everyone, I pulled the app until I can get the problem resolved.

I was finally able to reproduce the problem this week, and hope to have a fix in place very soon.

                          Hi Joe,

Like the look of your app, but my only problem is that I can’t find the settings button to change from MPG to anything with liters and kilometers!
Is this in the current version (1.1.2)? or a yet to be released version? and if it is, when do you think it will be released?

                            Hi Andrew,

Switching to liters and kilometers is hidden in plain sight. Don’t feel bad, though, as you are only one of over 100 people that have asked. (Maybe someday I’ll get the hint and put that on the support page :-)

Go to your device’s “Settings” app (the one that looks like 3 gears) and scroll to the bottom. There you will find settings for FuelGauge and probably a few other apps. Click the FuelGauge icon to set liters and kilometers.

That must be the only place I didn’t look lol! I thought there must be somewhere hidden!
Yeah, you definitely should add a hint page as you almost lost a customer. I have already bought another app to keep track of my fuel, but now that you have got back to me, maybe I’ll have to switch back!
                              Thanks for the app!
